Interesting news on the BBC site.

Thousands of seriously ill and disabled people who are unable to work are being wrongly denied benefits, a report by Citizens Advice has claimed.

It's something that we're all far too aware of, the DWP simply don't seem to understand the complexities of some long term conditions.

Well at least its being highlighted in the media and that is good, it needs to be kept in the media. Its very wrong how many are treated and Athos healthcare do not take into consideration how RA and other inflamatory diseases can vary from day to day.

"The assessment doesn't just look at whether people can still do their previous jobs, it also looks at whether they can take up alternative employment too," a spokesperson said
Are their staff trained to make these suggestions and is training available for suitable employment or are they talking unskilled labour

Silently concerned, I think.

Lastly I have been listening to the radio re the cutbacks outlined for the government departments which seems to indicate reallocating departments and other measure will only give results after a period of over 10 to 15 years and the costs will continue for the next 5 as they put their plans into action. Crazy we have the costs during the time we need to loose it. I doubt that we will ever see the costs coming back over such an extended period of time.
